George’s Biography

George Winter, originally from Wales was a successful actor appearing in Films such as ‘Scum,’ directed by Alan Clark, and ‘All Quiet On The Western Front’ directed by Delbert Mann. Starring in the West End he played the lead in ‘The Corn is Green’ with Deborah Kerr at The Old Vic, and various lead parts in Television Series such as ‘The Bretts’, ‘The Knights of God,’ and Merlin in ‘Merlin and the Crystal Caves.’

Due to a debilitating and progressive illness George changed direction and immersed himself in his love of art. He achieved a place at Bristol University as a mature student and studied for three years gaining a BA Honours Degree in Fine Art. Since leaving Bristol George has exhibited his painting several times at The Brewhouse Gallery in Taunton, The Alpha House Gallery, Sherborne, The Walker Gallery, Honiton and The Black Swan Gallery in Frome. His drawings have also been accepted and exhibited in consecutive years at The Cheltenham Open Drawing competition (now The Jerwood Drawing Prize)

George is married to Christine, they have four children and are currently living in Somerset.
